Gorgeous SS18 Trends

Hot on the heels from #LondonDesignWeek at Chelsea Harbour we’re buzzing with fresh ideas and inspiration for our residential and boutique hotel projects.

“Couture for the home” at London Design Week

Samantha and her team had a a great time meeting up with their favourite suppliers, making new connections and browsing the latest collections at the stylish Chelsea Harbour Design centre.  This stunning location is home to a staggering 120 showrooms and over 600 of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands.

The Harris Jackson team spent both days immersed in this “couture for the home” event, visiting as many showrooms as possible. Arte, Chase Erwin, Porto Romana, Fox Linton, Edelman Leather and De La Cuona being some of their favourite picks! Trends of SS18 included the comeback of the cheese plant (yes, really!) and an abundance of foliage.

Striking designs for you home or hotel

Arte – we were able to gauge a sneak peek into their new collections of Curiosa and Takura. Both involved natural elements in their designs. The Takura collection inspired by the Orient and Chinese curios; a rocketing trend to keep an eye on, close to our heart. Including textures of marble and velvet. We also found luxuriant fabrics, such as silky-soft suede, gleaming metallics, raw cottons and sophisticated paper weaves. ‘Crane’, is perhaps their most striking design in the collection. The pattern is made up of cranes in flight; these birds are deemed genuine lucky charms in a number of oriental countries. The patterns are embroidered onto a cotton and linen fabric.

Chase Erwin-Polar light collection launched for design week. Couldn’t be better timing! After all the madness of the March snow – coincidently Chase Erwin releases a collection which fits the theme perfectly. Inspiration was taken from The Diamond Beach – Iceland which sits along the south-east coast. It’s a magical world where drifting Icebergs wash up on the fine black Volcanic sand, glistening in the arctic light as though diamonds upon a velvet bed. Tactile textures and abstract forms are the inspiration behind their up-coming collection, Polar Light. Crisp pastel light reflecting and refracting on the crystal surface of the sculptural ice forms.

Inspiration for your next Interior Design project

We took inspiration from this collection by creating a mood board which involved a variety of samples of icy tones as well as a calm palette of blush, blue, silver and gold the beginnings of a Scandinavian project we have in the pipeline.

Porta Romana – The comeback of brass. Prestigiously known for its high-quality products and decorative finishes. The new collection ‘Stillness’ is a collection which plays with the theme of light. ‘light is juxtaposed with dark, colours are calm and muted, and gold threads dance among textures of stone, ceramic and glass. Beautiful equilibrium is achieved with hushed tones and serene quietness. And all that exists is Stillness.’

We love the new collection and its wealth of brassy elements. In particular, the Sway lamp designed by Martin Brudnizki. The Polished brass lamp is topped with a dusky velvet shade. It may be small in stature, but this bijoux treasure is cast in solid brass, makng it satisfyingly weighty. Porta Romana also released the ‘Velvets’ bespoke shade collection in a sumptuous spectrum of rich shades bringing any interior alive and gives any space a feeling of pure luxury.

De La Cuona – Their latest collection is the Rare Alchemy Fabric collection. This series of fabrics explores the raw beauty of natural materials. De La Cuona has led the way with stone-washed linens, embossed linens and the use of tonal wool yarns to add dimension to unique embroideries on sumptuous linens. Not to mention their signature wool and cotton paisleys which are recognised worldwide.

Signature washed shades can be paired with a heathery purple, a flash of teal and a delicious cocoa.

Their new collection is very much about the mineral and earthy tones to touches of vibrancy. The colour palate below displays a peak of what their new collection has to offer!
