07 Dec Independent Hotel Show 2018
Harris Jackson at the Independent Hotel Show 2018
Harris Jackson Design recently attended the Independent Hotel Show in London, and we were blown away by the innovation and passion shown by the exhibitors featured. Over three hundred industry providers come together to share ideas, identify key trends and build networking relationships, both in the exhibition arena and on the ‘Innovation Stage’.
We listened to panel discussions which recognised the importance of implementing practical as well as stylish designs, and heard experts debate over the incorporation of technology into hotel rooms of the future. Day One culminated in an evening awards ceremony recognising the best of independent hotels in 2018. Congratulations to the winners; Adam Rowledge and Another Place, The Lake.
This annual event really is the go-to for everything ‘boutique hotel’, and Harris Jackson are excited to be looking at becoming a Design Partner in 2019. Director Samantha shares with us some of her favourite suppliers from the show:
Also local to the New Forest, Linwood create a wide variety of weaves, prints, plain fabrics and wallpapers. Their designers draw inspiration from the natural world as well as a range of textile archives and museums. As a family business, Linwood take pride in working with family-run mills across Britain and Europe, with whom they have developed longstanding trusted relationships. We’re looking forward to working with them too, especially for those projects in our beautiful Hampshire and Dorset countryside!
Vaughan supply boutique independent hotels with top quality ‘classic and contemporary’ lighting from artist-designer couple Michael and Lucy Vaughan. Their collections are “renowned for timeless design and quality, rarely affected by fleeting trends.” From their New York and London showrooms, their lighting, furniture and accessories are delivered worldwide to an impressive client list of hotels and celebrity homes. It’s easy to see how their pieces make a stunning statement.
Created by Joe and Christine McLaughlin on their global travels, The Libra Company has evolved into a leading name in the gift and homewares industry. For over four decades now, Libra has been supplying beautiful furniture, decorative accessories and lighting to hotels and retail clients globally. They’ve recently opened a stunning new showroom in Suffolk, using their latest pieces to reflect this season’s trend featuring shades of green.
The latest displays from Burlington take a wide-ranging collection of gorgeous traditional products, and fit them out with modern functionality. In bathrooms and spa locations particularly, the importance of practicality must blend with beauty and style in the interior design, and working with Burlington allows us to realise this vision. We were particularly impressed with the diversity of choice on offer, allowing designers and clients to create a bathroom which reflects eras of great design from Edwardian to Contemporary.
